ISSUE 課題
- Although Destiny is globally popular, its brand recognition and enthusiasm remain limited in Japan
- The expansion content The Lightfall’s worldview (e.g., the frozen planet, Stasis power) needed to be memorably communicated even to non-players
- A unique approach was required to balance buzz and artistry in the promotion
STRATEGY 戦略
Bringing the game’s worldview into reality as an “experience” to simultaneously reach non-players and generate buzz.
<Objective>
Impressively approach non-players and foster brand enthusiasm for Destiny 2 in Japan
<Target Audience>
- Existing fans:Core gamers highly interested in the new expansion
- Light users: Culture lovers who appreciate visual beauty and worldbuilding
- Socially active users:Ages 10–30, sensitive to trending topics
<Approach>
- The project began with the concept of “reconstructing the game world in real life.”
- To convey the worldview and characters of The Lightfall beyond traditional trailers or announcements, LampTokyo designed a novel “art × game” fusion approach.
- The cold and ruthless character “Eramis” was recreated physically to impress a broad audience including non-players, aiming to expand recognition, interest, and empathy.
PLANNING 企画
An unconventional art project that carves out the “coldness” of the game in reality.
- Planned a unique art promotion recreating the game character “Eramis” as an ice sculpture.
- Collaborated with Takao Yamamoto, Grand Chef of Club Harie and Japan’s representative in the international patisserie ice sculpture competition.
- Produced and released a documentary video “Reviving Eramis” capturing the ice sculpting process, quietly portraying Eramis’s coldness, beauty, and intimidation.
- The video spread on YouTube and SNS, reaching not only gamers but also art and culture enthusiasts, garnering strong buzz and media coverage domestically and internationally.
CREATIVE クリエイティブ
The ice being carved reveals a cold beauty — the very process becomes storytelling that conveys the Destiny 2 worldview.
- Video Direction: Capturing the sounds and movements of carving in detail, symbolically depicting the character’s ruthlessness. Designed to convey the worldview purely through visuals and sound without narration or explanation.
- Tone & Manner:Dark, serene, with pale blue light accentuating the texture and atmosphere of ice. Pursuing immersion that expresses the boundary between reality and fantasy.
- Music & Sound Effects:Minimal BGM, emphasizing the realistic sounds of ice carving and the workshop environment to create tense, chilling atmosphere.
- Visual Composition: Through the motif of the “enemy being carved out,” the storytelling evokes the character’s “birth.”
